Here are the answers to some questions you might have...

How many supervisors can participate at one time?

You can include as many supervisors as you'd like, since our sessions are virtual. We use lots of breakouts rooms and other ways to engage your learners, so large groups are fine with us.

If you have just one supervisor, choose the One-on-One Learning program for one participant above.

If you have 2 or 3 participants, we can create a hybrid option. Schedule a call with Amy to talk about your needs.

Who is the ideal participant for Launch Into Leadership?

The ideal participant is a new or emerging supervisor who wants to build self-awareness, communication skills, performance management techniques, and other basic frameworks for success. More experienced, mid-level or senior leaders who need to refine their leadership habits or prepare for the next level in their careers would likely benefit from our more extensive one-on-one coaching engagements or our Lead Ignited program.

FAQ image

How do I know the frameworks taught in Launch Into Leadership will stick?

Our goal is to achieve your goals. So, we begin by meeting with you to understand your objectives. We encourage participants to meet with their supervisors following our sessions to share what they've learned and identify ways to implement their new frameworks on the job. Participants' managers receive a Manager's Toolkit outlining each session and providing coaching questions to build accountability and sustainability of the participants' new skills.

How are the sessions structured?

For our one-on-one participants, we typically schedule our sessions every 2-3 weeks. In between, they complete our online learning modules. This ensures they can manage the learning load, build new skills, and get personalized attention to address their unique needs.

For our group program, we typically schedule the one-hour learning sessions every two weeks spanning a four month period. This gives the participants time to practice their new skills in between. To expedite the program, we can double-up on topics by offering two hour sessions. We'll work to meet your scheduling needs.

What is the cost?

At Work Ignited, we recognize that the fee for our services is your investment in anticipation of higher levels of performance and ultimately, greater financial return. So we strive to offer our high quality service at a fair value.

The fee for the one-on-one learning option is $1,497 including coaching time, access to the online learning modules for one year, and the Everything DiSC Profile.

Group programs are priced based on the number of participants and the structure of the sessions. Schedule a call with Amy to talk about options.

The best time to help your leaders succeed is today.

So many new and emerging leaders started working in the work-from-home/hybrid workplace era. As a result, they haven't had the exposure to high performing leaders or the time to dedicate to building their own supervisory skills. Now, they are scrambling (or relying on you) to manage day-to-day tasks, build accountability, and grow their teams.

I truly believe that there's never been a better (or more important) time to double down on building supervisory skills. Today's workforce is looking for supervisors who are fair, firm, and friendly. Your super-doers can be turned into super-supervisors in just a short time. They just need proven frameworks and an intentional learning process to build the habits that will lead to their success.

I want your supervisors to feel proud of what they accomplish and confident in what thet can achieve.

Let's chat to get Launch Into Leadership scheduled for your supervisors.

8 Benefits of Using Candidate Screening Assessments

8 Benefits of Using Pre-Employment Testing

July 31, 20268 min read

Quick Answer:

A good pre-employment assessment does eight things a resume and a good interview can’t do alone. It replicates the traits of your actual top performers, cuts the real cost of a bad hire, boosts retention and engagement, closes the gap between what a resume claims and what’s actually true, reduces bias, makes your hiring managers’ jobs dramatically easier, improves culture fit, and speeds up your hiring process instead of slowing it down.

If you’re still making most of your hiring decisions on a strong handshake and a good feeling, I get the instinct. It’s fast, and it feels personal. It’s also how a shocking number of expensive mistakes get made, quietly, one hire at a time, until an organization looks up and wonders why turnover is so high or why the team feels harder to manage than it should. Here’s what a real assessment actually buys you, and why each of these eight things compounds into something bigger than the sum of its parts.

I once worked with a client whose favorite interview question was, "sell me this pen." They'd hand the candidate a pen and expect them to eloquently regale them with the benefits of owning a 25 cent Bic. Listen, if they can convince you to buy a cheap pen, they can schmooze their way through the interview without every revealing potentially risky characteristics.

That's where a valid and reliable candidate screening assessment comes in. It will help you take a deeper dive under the surface of the AI-generated resume and the nice suit. Here are 8 reasons why.

1. It Replicates Your Actual Top Performers

Instead of guessing what a “great” employee for a role looks like, you can build a Performance Model based on the traits of the people already succeeding in it. Take your top performers’ assessment results, use them to define the target attributes, and suddenly you’re not hiring on a hunch, you’re hiring against evidence pulled straight from your own organization.

This matters more than it sounds like it should, because most hiring managers carry around an unspoken, unverified idea of what “great” looks like for a role, usually shaped by their own personal characteristics or preferences. A Performance Model replaces that mental picture with an actual pattern drawn from real performance data, which often surprises people. More than once, I’ve had a client discover their assumption about what made someone succeed in a role was flat wrong once the data was actually pulled together.

2. Candidate Screening Assessments Cut the Real Cost of a Bad Hire

A 2025 CUNY School of Public Health report put the cost of a disengaged employee at $4,257 for a salaried non-manager, $10,824 for a manager, and $20,683 for an executive, and that’s before you factor in the cost of replacing them entirely. Separately, research cited by the Harvard Business Review found that 46% of new hires fail within 18 months, and 89% of those failures come down to attitude and interpersonal issues rather than a lack of technical skill. That’s the exact territory that tools like PXT Select are built to surface before you ever extend an offer.

3. It Boosts Retention and Engagement

This is where understanding motivational interests earns its keep, and it’s the piece most assessments don't explore. Someone can be fully capable of doing a job and have the right personality traits and still walk away within a year because the actual day-to-day work never interested them. Catching that mismatch before the hire, not six months into onboarding them, is one of the quieter but more valuable things a real assessment does.

4. Candidate Screening Assessments Close the Gap Between the Resume and the Interview

A resume tells you what someone claims. An interview tells you how someone presents. Neither one reliably tells you how someone thinks, how they’ll behave under pressure, or what actually motivates them day to day. A candidate can be genuinely likable in an interview and still be a poor fit for the role’s actual demands, and plenty of candidates who interview nervously turn out to be exceptional once they’re actually doing the work. An assessment fills exactly that gap, which is why we’ve always been clear it should account for no more than a third of the final decision, not the whole thing. It’s a piece of the puzzle, not the whole picture.

5. It Reduces Bias

Two candidates who interview completely differently, one polished and talkative, one quiet and understated, can be equally strong fits for a role, and an unstructured interview alone tends to reward the more comfortable talker regardless of actual fit. This isn’t a hypothetical concern. It’s one of the most well-documented weaknesses of relying on gut-feel interviewing alone, and it quietly filters out strong candidates who simply don’t perform well in a room. A standardized assessment scores everyone against the same scales and the same Performance Model, which means quieter, less naturally “interview-y” candidates finally get evaluated on substance instead of charisma, and it gives you a defensible, consistent record of why a decision was made, which matters more than most hiring managers realize until they need it.

6. The Right Hiring Assessment Makes a Manager's Jobs Dramatically Easier

This benefit gets overlooked constantly, and it shouldn’t. A good report doesn’t just hand a hiring manager a score, it hands them the actual interview questions to ask, tailored to that specific candidate’s results, along with what to listen for in the answer. Once someone’s hired, a Coaching Report picks up right where the selection report left off, giving a manager a clear playbook for getting a new employee ramped up fast instead of guessing at how to manage them for the first few months. 7. It Improves Culture Fit, Without Cloning Your Workforce

A Performance Model isn’t a machine for producing identical employees, and I want to be upfront about that because it’s a common (and fair) worry. You don't want cookie-cutter employees. Afterall, diversity is the spice of life!

Candidate screening tools are built to surface the handful of tendencies that tend to show up across your successful people, while leaving plenty of room for real variation everywhere else. I get into exactly how that works, and why diversity of thought and style is a feature, not a bug, in my post called, "Why a Performance Model is the Real Secret to Job Fit."

8. Assessments Speed Up Your Time to Hire, Not Slow It Down

This is the objection I hear the most, and it’s backwards. If you choose the right tool, results are ready the moment the candidate finishes, no waiting around. And because you’re walking into the interview with real data on someone’s thinking style, behavior, and motivation, your interview and reference-check questions get sharper and more targeted immediately, instead of you fumbling through generic questions hoping something useful surfaces.

Quick Answers to What People Actually Ask Me

Here are answers to questions I often get asked about candidate screening assessments:

Will this protect me legally, or expose me to more risk? Used correctly, a validated, standardized assessment is one of the more defensible parts of your hiring process, not a liability. The key is using it as one input among several, never as the sole basis for a decision.

Is this realistic for a small business, or just for large companies with HR departments? Genuinely realistic for small businesses, even if you're just making one hire, and arguably more valuable there, since a bad hire hurts a 12-person company far more than it hurts a 12,000-person one.

Do candidates resent being asked to take an assessment? Most don’t, especially once they understand it’s a two-way street. A well-designed candidate experience includes explaining why you use it and sharing a their results with them as part of the onboarding process.

What if my gut has been right for years? It probably has been many times, but the few times you were off could have been real killers. The goal isn’t to replace your instincts, it’s to give them better information to work from.

Doesn’t adding an assessment just slow down my hiring process? It adds a step, but it removes far more time than it adds, since your interviews become faster and more targeted once you know what to actually ask.

Here's a tip if you use PXT Select. You aren't charged for the assessment until you actually run the report. So, you can have candidates answer the questionnaire at no charge. If you decide you like them during the interview, you can hop onto your computer, run their report, and see their traits while you're advancing them to the next step of the screening process.

Where to Go From Here

Curious what disqualifies a candidate before you even get to the assessment stage? "6 Red Flags to Look for When Screening Job Candidates" is worth a read too, some of what it covers might surprise you.

Don’t keep making six-figure hiring decisions on a coin flip dressed up as intuition. There’s a better way, and it’s not complicated.
